The EnderlinIndependent

Wednesday, June 24, 2009, is the date when a piece of Enderlin’s history, Soo Line #2425 steam engine was loaded on three semi trailer trucks and hauled away. Hauled away to the Ironhorse Central Railroad Museum in Chisago City, MN. Bystanders, some rails from the CP Railroad and some just sidewalk engineers, watched as the huge engine shell was first lifted through the open roof of its home for the past years and swung over to the waiting truckbed. The guts of old #2425, the engine, wheels, etc., were then loaded as well as the firebox with the Soo Line logo on its side. The plans of the Ironhorse Central Railroad Museum is to restore the engine and get it running on its track. This, of course, will take years of hard work and effort before this happens.
