Bette passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital at the age of 83.
Elizabeth “Bette” George was born to Agatha and Steve George on June 6, 1926 in Hankinson, ND where she grew up and lived until 1939 when the family moved to Enderlin, ND. She attended school and graduated from Enderlin High School in 1944. She left Enderlin and went to Washington, D.C. where she attended several government schools and worked for the Navy Department and later the War Department.
She married Vernon Olsen in Webster, SD. She leaves her husband, Vernon; six children, Jack (Susan) Olsen of Richmond, VA; Barbara (Ken) Schacht of Miami, Fl; Jeff (Rose) Olsen of Tampa, FL; Marcy Selph of Papillion, NE; Stephanie (Tom) Olsen of Hillsboro, ND; and Stacy (Jeff) Panneck of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are her sister, Beverly Freese of Mesa, AZ; and her brother, John (Jean) George of Vista, CA; twenty one grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her four brothers and one sister - Franklin, Steve, David, Bill, and Barbara June.
Memorial Service was held on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, ND. Burial held at Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro.
