Valley News
Leapin lizards, Bev Bjorgan at Mesa stated it was 47 degrees so she and hubby Ed threw more covers on and hoped the fruit would not freeze. This Valley is not that far behind. Seems it is headed toward 30 but when the sun shines the snow takes a beating and it runs wild. With ten foot drifts, we need a lot of sun and hope the constant talk of flooding does not happen. Carter Hoenhause spent an afternoon with great Gram Irene and put a chair together plus carried canned stuff from the basement just in case Mom Nature turns desperate again and floods or is it seepage that filled up everything? There is Mavie Bjorgan in Montana watching her tulips come up. Wherever there is a small patch of ground showing, the grass is already green in this North Dakota Valley. Ice is still claiming peoples bones as they slip and fall. No age is immune from this.
A visit with Bob Jodsaas states he had the misfortune of damaging a knee so getting around is not as easy as it was so we ask prayers for him to totally recover and get healed so they can attend the Valleyaires playing sessions in Enderlin and any other place.
It came near one oclock at the Veterans Home on Sunday and people starting coming in for church. The piano was ringing out as the room filled. Then in pops Pastor John Anderson who already had three church services but came with the fiddle. He mastered melodies, placed the fiddle down and used the vocal chords with dueting and everyone coming in on the chorus of well known hymns. Then back to the fiddle on Amazing Grace. It was a great sermon he gave and there was Brenda Elijah helping whatever needed it. She stated, There is a great crowd. She was informed it is usually this way and all go home with God leading the way. Thanks Pastor John, and residents.
This rover had some extra candles. Daughter Evelyn when she was living always had candles burning on top of her stove. This rover decided to give them to another Nancy Sours who says she burns them steady. Monday this rover stopped in and there was Nancy so a great visiting session went on. Both have lost a child or more so sorrow still lingers. It takes heavy prayers to conquer this.
Mae Bjorgan of Elbow Lake, MN had a short visit with sister Hazel Lester on the phone. Hazel is in a Nursing Home at The Oakes, Poteau, Oklahoma. Hazel stated she would write a letter, so Mae sits and crochets around dish towels and has three sets done. This is wonderful that someone near the 90 mark will find things she likes to do and keep busy, plus she bakes up a storm and writes letters. She says she was to the doctor and finds her blood is still running so all must be well. Her sis Norann Carter at McAllen states it has been cold there so they have had to keep the furnace going. Ernest just had a birthday so it is happy day to him as he snuggles up to the heat, otherwise all is fine.
There is Tim Bartell, rural Gwinner, and states he is either sitting around or doing something weird. We believe he has chicken chores and goat milking so there is farming for him. Mom Alice has back problems but sits when it bothers too much and has a game of some kind with Tim. She revamps a lot of stuff so her life is never at a stand still.
This rover stopped and had an old time chat with Alice Heigelke Monday. Alice loves to get dinner at the Senior Citizens as it is great. She lives close enough so she can walk when she feels the ice isnt too slippery. She has bird feeders and they flock around there by the hundreds. The pheasants are coming out of the swamp at this farm and must be looking for something good to eat. They head across the river where a huge silage pile is. This rover wonders where they hide themselves with all this snow and how they kept alive. The swamp across from this house is a haven for birds, pheasants and whatnot with one horse also roaming there, however hay is hauled to it. Am not sure what it is. This rover can lift up a tail on a cat and still not know what it is, she has to go to the great grandkids. Seems one orange cat has a new home with Sandy Rusvold and we hope she is happy. Sandy zips to town to cook at Senior Citizens so is a busy gal.
Phyllis and Gary Olson zipped into Evelyn Hitchcocks for a visit. Then on Sunday Mike Palmers made the trek down from Fargo to visit and do whatever had to be done. Evelyn steamed off to visit Chris and Rena Lehmans also.
Nettie Krentz is a great attender of the meals at the Senior Center in Lisbon. She does not drive her car since her hip decided to hit something so needed surgery. She is doing great now but ice and snow are not the greatest to handle the wheel of a car. She states daughter Judy is still at the piano. This rover gave her lessons years ago plus to Nancy who left us in tears when God needed her. Judy and hubby have a child and both have jobs but she still finds time to anchor herself on the musical instrument.
